I compare hard days in life much like a bad race in Cross Country. You’re hurting. You can’t breathe. People are passing you like you’re standing still and you don’t seem to have anymore energy to pick it up a notch and go with them. The finish line is still a few miles away and it seems like you’re never going to get there.
These are the days where you have to ask yourself Gatorade’s famous question: “Is it in you?” Is it in you to do what it takes, or are you simply gonna accept failure or a ‘good-enough’ mentality? See, failure is not defined by a poor performance, but in a performance that is LACKLUSTER. No drive, no conviction, and settling for less than your best.
Why not your best? At the end of the day, the only person you have to answer to is yourself on the way you did, right? Sure, but don’t you want to walk away knowing your level of awesome rather than remembering how much it hurt?
My challenge, to myself as well as you, is to always ‘flip the script’ on yourself. It hurts? So what. You’re tired? You and everybody else. Today’s not the day? THEN WHEN WILL BE?
