I decided I needed to get serious about losing weight when I stepped on the scale at my doctor’s office and weighed in at 232 lbs.
Growing up I was never active in sports. I sang in choirs, tried the violin, and twirled the flag in the marching band. When I went off to college, I went to the gym a couple times a week. Initially I did just enough to maintain where I was and counter the ramen noodles, pizza, and beer. Later, I began to exercise more frequently and my favorite activity was doing stadiums in the Swamp (Go Gators), but my eating habits also got worse! I gained most of my weight in my final years of college and my first year joining the workforce. I reached my highest weight a few months after starting my new job. I saw myself in a picture after my friend’s graduation, and realized I had to make a change.
I started working out 5 days a week, but I wasn’t really seeing results. I met one of the owners of Absolute Nutrition at a conference in June 2011, and we discussed nutrition programs for weight loss and pre/post workout products to try. I started shopping at the store the following weekend and picked up some whey protein to incorporate into my new nutrition/fitness program. Over the past 2 years I have lost 71 pounds and gone from a size 16 to a size 6/8. I am no longer focused on losing weight, and my new goal is to decrease my body fat percentage. I have developed a passion for educating others on clean eating, and this summer I plan to start the process to becoming a certified health coach.
What was your goal and why?
My only goal starting out was to lose weight. I was 232 and my first milestone entry in my calorie counting app was 185. I figured if I could at least get back to where I was in college I would feel great.
When did you start the process?
What was your Motivation to change?
I knew I needed to make a change because not only was my weight the highest my self esteem was at its lowest point.
What kept you going on hard days?
I started seeing results a couple weeks after starting my new nutrition plan. When things became hard later in the program I remembered all the success I was having from being consistent and dedicated to a healthy lifestyle. Those thoughts kept me going.
How did Absolute Nutrition’s products and staff help you accomplish your goal?
I talked to Josh about my desire to lose weight and he recommended I try a lower carb diet with lean proteins. He also suggested I visit Absolute Nutrition. While there, Matt educated me on nutrition and how I could benefit from whey protein. I have used a few different brands over the years, but I am stuck on the Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme (Peanut Butter cookie and Vanilla Cake). Thanks to Josh, Matt, and the rest of the Absolute Nutrition staff I have lost 71 pounds.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate your experience with Absolute?
9.5! I have to deduct 0.5 because they are Auburn graduates.
